Term 3 Week 9: 7 September 2021
From the Principal...
Good afternoon Parents and Caregivers,
Welcome to week 9.
As the term is nearing its close, I’d like to remind parents that there are a lot of events happening in our school community that require their attention. Please stay tuned to Facebook and please fully read the newsletter each week. Facebook and the Newsletter are our two main methods of communication with parents about anything that is happening in the school. Individual teachers may also send notes home if there is something specifically class-related. This time of the term also has students finalising assessments. If your child is away or is likely to be away, please advise the school so that teachers can plan around it if possible.
This week we had the opportunity to have a sneak peek at our schools’ NAPLAN results. We were very pleased to see all of our students achieve so well. St Francis has achieved well above the state mean in all but one area. This one area will become a focus for teaching and learning in 2022. Congratulations to all students and to our teachers last year and this year for the results.
This week Miss Allison is off to Townsville for the Term 3 Beginning Teacher Conference. The conference allows Miss Allison to join with other early career teachers to discuss their move towards full teacher registration, their experiences in the classroom and new pedagogies to add to their repertoire. Miss Allison will also take the time to work with a year 2 and year 3 teacher to plan ahead for next year.
Don’t forget we are chasing donations of plants, baked goods and groceries for the fete. If you can help out please let Miss Jodie know.
Till next week,

Snack Attack...
Could we please remind parents and students packing "Snack Attack" that this is just a short 5 minute Brain Break, and not another meal break. The snack should be a small portion and preferably kept separate from the main lunch box. Prep/1/2 are asked to put their snack into a basket, so the temptation of the big lunch is removed.
Thank you for your continued support of this program.
Hughenden Junior Netball Clinic...
Prep/1/2 happenings...
In P/1/2 we are always taking the time to practise our reading, whether that be independently or in pairs any reading is good reading. We have a class library that the students are always using and they are always encouraged to try a new book each time they get to read.

Year 3/4 happenings...
We are showing our skills with informative writing by writing our own newspaper article. Each student wrote their own article about a chosen topic. Many students wrote about Covid, the recent football game or even something that happened on their weekend. We stapled them together for the teachers to read in the staff room.
