From the Principal

Dear Parents, Carers, and Community Members of St Francis Catholic School Hughenden,

As we wrap up Week 7, I'm delighted to share with you the optimism that courses through our school. Indeed, the light at the end of the tunnel is becoming brighter, reminding us of the progress we've made and the impending end of Term 3.

Currently, I am representing our school in Townsville for the Term 3 Principal Conference. While I take this brief hiatus, Mr Rodney Lane will be present to assist our school. I anticipate returning late on Friday evening, back for the start of Week 8, following the conclusion of the meetings that afternoon.

Our recent 2023 Fete was a roaring success, and I owe a massive debt of gratitude to everyone involved. The feedback I’ve received from community members, parish members, parents, and many more has been overwhelmingly positive, with some suggesting this might have been one of our most significant turnouts in recent memory. This achievement was only possible due to the combined efforts of our volunteers, parents, carers, students, parish members, and the numerous businesses and groups that offered their time, donations, or sponsorships. From the bottom of my heart, thank you!

I would also like to draw your attention to an upcoming event. On Wednesday, 30th August, we will be hosting our Father's Day BBQ & Liturgy. This is an open invitation to all. Starting with a short liturgy, the evening will transition into a delightful BBQ gathering at 6:00 pm in the quadrangle. It promises to be a memorable evening, and I hope to see many of you there.

In conclusion, let me extend my best wishes to each and every one of you for the week ahead. Your continued support and engagement mean the world to us. I eagerly await our reunion next week and the shared experiences that lie ahead.

God Bless,

Scott Murray

A/Principal

Prep/1 Happenings

We have been working so hard on our handwriting this week in P/1. The students have come a long way with their letter formation this term. They have taken every opportunity they can to practise their writing skills and I can’t wait to see them continue to get better and better as the year continues.

Year 2/3/4 Happenings

2/3/4 have spent the last couple weeks focusing on poetry! We have learned about ballads, acrostics, limericks and Haiku poems. We have also learned about how we can use alliteration and similes within their poems to make them more entertaining. Check them out!

Year 5/6 Happenings

We have been very busy in the 5/6 classroom this week working hard on our assessment tasks. In Maths, we have begun to look at angles and how we can measure and construct them using a protractor and the properties of angles. To explore our prior knowledge of angles we had to place catergorise ourselves using the angles on our lanyard.

SFSH Chaplain

Dear Parents/Carers and Friends

This week, our Mini Vinnies group is bustling with activity. On Tuesday morning, our breakfast club attendees enjoyed pancakes for breakfast, they went down a treat. Later in the morning, we had the pleasure of welcoming a number of lovely seniors from our community to a delightful morning tea. It was wonderful to witness the fantastic conversations between the students and their elder companions.

Our Mini Vinnies group are working hard behind the scenes to prepare cupcakes for a  fundraiser that we will be holding this Friday to support RMH. More details will be released this week.

Friday afternoon at 2:45pm we will once again have $1.00 Zooper Doopers for sale. Be sure to stop in for an icy treat to start the weekend.

Have a fantastic week!

Telisa Howie - School Chaplain
