Term 3 Week 5 - 2023
From the Principal
Dear Parents, Carers, and the St Francis Hughenden Community,
As we come to the close of Week 5, there's much to reflect on and look forward to. Firstly, I extend a heartfelt welcome and thank you to all our families and community members for your ongoing dedication and support.
It has been observed that many of our staff and students have been away due to illnesses this week. This serves as a reminder: the health and well-being of our community are paramount. We've noticed a recurrence of illnesses, and to break this cycle, we urge all parents and carers to keep their children at home if they're unwell. By working together, we can ensure a healthier environment for all.
Looking ahead, the excitement of our upcoming fete is in the air! It's hard to believe we're at the end of Week 5 already. The outpouring of support for the FETE has been tremendous. On behalf of St Francis Hughenden School and Parish, I extend a heartfelt thanks to all the volunteers from our parent and carer base, Parish members, and the broader community. Your efforts in organising and setting up the fete have not gone unnoticed. The unity and commitment displayed by everyone, including those who cannot attend on the night, truly exemplify the spirit of our community.
An important note for our families: today, a donation plate for cakes/sweets, accompanied by a letter, has been sent home with all students. This letter seeks donations of plants and cakes for next Thursday, 17th August 2023. If you're able to contribute, your generosity would be deeply appreciated. Also embedded in the letter is a QR code leading to the Volunteer Roster. We still require a number of volunteers for the fete. Even if you can spare just an hour, your help would be invaluable. Here's the link for your convenience: [Link Here]. Your support goes a long way in ensuring the success of our community events.
Lastly, as I pen this from Townsville amidst conferences and meetings, I eagerly anticipate my return to Hughenden next week. The FETE is an occasion I especially look forward to, and I'm excited to share in the joy and festivities with all of you.
Wishing each of you a safe, healthy, and enjoyable weekend.
God Bless,
Scott Murray

Prep/1 Happenings
We have been learning all about Family life this week in P/1! We have looked at how family life has changed through time and what families in the past looked like and what families now look like. The students drew pictures of their own families as well as the different generations in their families.
Miss Brown,
Year 2/3/4 Happenings
In 2/3/4, we've been delving into the fascinating realm of materials—both natural and man-made—and exploring the ways we can transform them. With tin trays, string, pipe cleaners, straws, felt, and sticks in hand, students embarked on a journey to understand the behaviour of these materials when they bent or twisted them, hoping that they didn’t break!

Year 5/6 Happenings
We have been exploring the Holy Trinity in Religion, focusing on the gifts and fruits of the Holy Spirit. This week we discussed ways that we can follow in Jesus’ footsteps. The students created their own posters to demonstrate ways that they are able to achieve this.
