Term 3 Week 4 - 2023
From the Principal
As we delve deeper into the third term, there's a lot happening, so let's jump right in.
Firstly, a reminder about our upcoming annual Parish and School FETE, which is just around the corner on Friday, 18th August 2023. We're heartened to see so many names, including those of older students, on our volunteer roster. Your generous commitment of time and energy is deeply appreciated and vital for a successful event.
However, we still have a number of vacant positions. Your support, in any capacity, can make a difference and contribute to the smooth running of this important evening. Even an hour of volunteering can significantly benefit all our students and the school. Please visit the link to access the online roster and add your name if you're able to help.
In regards to health and safety, we're currently seeing a surge in illnesses within our Hughenden community. In response, we ask that all parents and carers take a moment to familiarise themselves with the TimeOut Poster attached to this newsletter. If your child exhibits any symptoms of illness, we urge you to keep them at home. By doing so, we can ensure the health and wellbeing of all our students and staff during this flu season.
Earlier this week, I had the opportunity to visit St Joseph's North Ward on the Strand in Townsville as part of a Validation Panel. This panel assesses the school's renewal plans for the next five years, a process that St Francis will undergo next year following our Verification this year. Observing the practices of other schools, such as St Joseph's, provides invaluable insights for our own growth and development.
Lastly, I want to reiterate the importance of reporting any student absences, whether due to illness or medical appointments. Please contact the front office on 4741 1382 to notify us. Alternatively, you can use the COMPASS App for the same purpose. Your cooperation helps us maintain an accurate record of student attendance, which is crucial for both safety and educational continuity as we come to Census this week.
I hope you all have a great weekend with Friends and Family, and I look forward to seeing you all next week.
God Bless,
God Bless,
Scott Murray

Prep/1 Happenings
🎲📊 Our P/1 class has been on an exciting journey into the world of Chance and Data this week! We've been exploring different outcomes in chance games using dice and a 10c coin! 🎲 It's been amazing to see the variety of results we can get with each roll! We've been diligently collecting data and tallying up the occurrences of each number on the dice. The students have been absolutely thrilled, especially with the BIG dice! 🎲
Miss Brown,
Year 2/3/4 Happenings
2/3/4 have been exploring the world of Angles in maths. The students have grasped the concept of right, acute, and obtuse angles, seen them in the world around them, and have even artistically created their own. Their creativity and understanding will be on full display during our Spotlight this Friday at the school liturgy, where they will exhibit their self-made angles.
Miss Allison,
Year 5/6 Happenings
We have been very busy in our Visual Art lessons preparing our canvases for the silent auction at the Fete. Every year level has been working on their canvas design. They are all starting to come together and look really good. Look out for more photos in the coming weeks about these.
