Term 3 Week 3 - 2023
From the Principal
Dear Parents, Carers, and Community Members,
Warm greetings on a chilly week! We hope you've all managed to keep warm as the temperature has dropped. A big thank you to all of our parents and carers who ensure that our students are in the correct uniform, and dressed for the cooler weather. Your ongoing support makes a huge difference!
Just as a reminder, if your child is out of school uniform for any reason, please ensure a written explanation is provided to their class teacher.
This has been an exciting week at St Francis Hughenden. We've welcomed a number of visitors, enriching our school community. We are delighted to have our Speech Pathologist Miss Terhi and Guidance Counsellor Miss Britt back on campus. Their work with our students is invaluable, and we appreciate their dedication.
Additionally, we were glad to see Mr Colahan back in the classrooms this week, helping us with various projects. Thank you Mr Colahan, who will be stepping into my role tomorrow while I am away.
A huge round of applause for all of our performers and staff who attended the Mulkadee Art Festival last week. From what I've seen online, the event was outstanding! It's always awe-inspiring to see the effort, work, and detail that our students put into making this show a success in just five days. Your hard work has paid off!
Just a quick reminder for everyone - our FETE planning meeting will take place today in the library at 3:00 PM. Everyone in our school community is welcome and encouraged to join us. The success of our FETE is a testament to our community's engagement, and your input is invaluable.
Please also consider signing up for the FETE Roster. If you haven't yet, you can access the Roster online through this link. Alternatively, you are always welcome to drop by the office to sign up.
In closing, I just want to say thank you to our entire school community for another great week at St Francis Hughenden. Let's keep up the excellent work, and I look forward to seeing you all next week.
God Bless,
Scott Murray

Prep/1 Happenings
This Week in P/1 the students went on a Science walk! We have been looking at our environment and the physical changes that occur around us. The students played a game of ISpy around the school to see what they could find in the environment.
Miss Brown,
Year 2/3/4 Happenings
In 2/3/4 this week, our students have been delving into the concept of the Holy Trinity in Religion. They have explored the different facets of the Holy Trinity, known as God as the Father, God as the Son, and God as the Holy Spirit, and discovered how these divine components are intricately interconnected. The focus of our lessons has been on the scripture of Jesus's baptism. The students have gained a deeper understanding of the roles and actions of each part of the Trinity within the baptism narrative. Students created posters, choosing one aspect of the Holy Trinity, to discuss their appearance and actions in the baptism scripture.

Year 5/6 Happenings
We had a blast exploring the concept of viscosity in science this week through an exciting experiment - making lava out of flour and water! By adding different amounts of water we were able to see how we can make the liquid have a lower viscosity. This hands-on activity allowed the students to observe the behaviour of different substances and understand how thickness and flow can vary.

Chaplain
Dear Parents, Carers and Friends,
It is wonderful to witness the thriving success of programs we have created to support our school, students, and the wider community. Breakfast Club is growing larger every week, ensuring students’ start their day with full, nourished bellies, this would not be possible without the kind donations provided by our amazing community members. The Mini Vinnies Pen Pal program is up and running promoting beautiful connections between our students and elderly members of our community. Our small fundraising campaigns are already making a big impact, supporting incredible charities. We thank you for your support and donations. We are continuing to support and engage with our wider community through participation in various activities. Your involvement is essential to our success, so please don't hesitate to reach out and share your support or ideas. With your help, we can continue to create a positive and compassionate environment for our students.
Sincerely,
Telisa Howie

Senior Shirts (Yr 6 Only) - Wednesday & Friday
Recently, we've noticed uniform issues including torn shirts and shoes with holes. Such issues breach our policy or keep our uniforms tidy and presentable, but also pose a risk of injury to students.
We ask parents to replace damaged uniform items promptly. If there is a delay, please provide a written explanation to your child's classroom teacher detailing when the issue will be resolved as has been the expectation since the start of the year.
Our school uniform policy is designed to maintain collective pride and ensure the safety of all students.
