Term 2 Week 7 - 2023
From the Principal
Dear Parents, Carers and the wider St Francis Catholic School Community,
Welcome to the end of Week 7. We hope this newsletter finds you in high spirits as we celebrate an exhilarating victory by the Mighty Maroons in the recent State of Origin match.
Firstly, we would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to Mr. Michael Colahan, who has been serving as Acting Principal during my absence. His experience and dedication have greatly benefited our school and students, and we are grateful for his contributions. Also to Mr Rodney Lane, who has been with us for the past week as well filling in the class for 2/3/4. Thank you to you both and we look forward to welcoming you back next time.
This week has been exceptionally busy with various events taking place. With Reconciliation Week, Athletic Pre-Carnival Events, where our students demonstrated their athletic abilities and sportsmanship. Finally, tomorrow marks the highly anticipated 140th Annual Hughenden Show, a significant event for our community.
Since there is no assembly this week due to the show preparations, we have condensed the school newsletter this week to keep you informed and we will award and present our Student's of the Week and Birthday's next week.
I would like to extend a congratulations to the students who participated in the 800m and 1500m events earlier this week. Students, accompanied by Miss Eriksen and other staff, walked to Hughenden State School to compete, and we were thrilled to witness their determination and effort. Those who participated should be immensely proud of their achievements. We would also like to thank the parents and carers who attended the events to cheer and support their children. Your presence is invaluable, and we thoroughly enjoy seeing you involved in our students' activities.
Furthermore, I would like to take this opportunity to celebrate Miss Eriksen, who has been nominated as the St. Francis Catholic School, Hughenden's nominee for Spirit of Catholic Education (SOCE) Award. We shared this exciting news on our Facebook page, and we couldn't be prouder of Miss Eriksen's well-deserved recognition.
In the coming weeks, we will have tradesmen on-site to update the school's technology and install new air conditioners. This may result in some class relocations, with classes temporarily being held in the library for a day or two to facilitate the necessary updates. We look forward to the improved facilities these updates will bring.
Lastly, we want to remind everyone that there will be no Tuckshop or Assembly this week due to the 140th Annual Hughenden Show. We encourage you to visit the Pavilion and witness our students' remarkable achievements throughout the weekend. We extend our gratitude to the staff members who have put in significant effort to prepare the students' entries for the show.
I look forward to seeing you at the show this weekend. For those we may not encounter, we wish you a wonderful weekend filled with joy and quality time spent with loved ones.
God bless,
Scott Murray
A/Principal
