Term 3 Week 8: 31 August 2021
From the Principal...

Good afternoon Parents and Caregivers,
What a lovely drop of rain last night. As the storms washed through and I lost power, it was the perfect opportunity for me to take a moment to be thankful for the light by which to see, the heat by which to cook and the internet by which to work. Many in our world do not have such resources. Our students are blessed with immediate access to such resources and we do take the time to remind them each day of just how lucky they are.
It has been great to see parents wandering into school for our term 3 parent-teacher interviews. These meetings are a great opportunity for parents and teachers to touch base on student progress and future plans for learning. On a whole, we are very happy with how committed our students are to their learning and their genuine desire to improve their skills.
On Friday the teachers will be participating in a Professional Development day focused on Universal Design for Learning in our classrooms. UDL is a pedagogy designed to ensure all students have access to all of the curriculum all of the time. Teachers will participate in workshops to ensure that UDL is embedded in their planning and assessment for the improvement of student outcomes. It is a very busy day for us all. I hope the students enjoy their extra day off.
Don’t forget we are chasing donations of plants, baked goods and groceries for the fete. If you can help out please let miss Jodie know.

Tuckshop...

Thank you to Rachel, Rowena and Skye for providing Tuckshop this week.
Homebakes will be provided by the Millwood family next week.
Snack Attack...
Could we please remind parents and students packing "Snack Attack" that this is just a short 5 minute Brain Break, and not another meal break. The snack should be a small portion and preferably kept separate from the main lunch box. Prep/1/2 are asked to put their snack into a basket, so the temptation of the big lunch is removed.
Thank you for your continued support of this program.

2021 Bookfair...
What a wonderful week celebrated at the 2021 Book Fair! Thank you again to all of our families and community for your support for this event. The bonus is BOOKS, BOOKS and more BOOKS for the library.

Prep/1/2 happenings...
In P/1/2 we have been learning about informative writing, each week we pick a different animal and we research everything we need to know about that animal. This week we looked at the Gorilla, the students even got to draw their Gorilla to go with their informative writing.

Year 3/4 happenings...
In Religion, we have been learning about the Holy Trinity, which are the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. Each of these make up our one God. We used the bible to find each of the Holy Trinity in the baptism of Jesus, and draw each of them in a picture. We also love ending our Religion lessons with some meditative colouring.

Year 5/6 happenings...
What a wonderfully busy week full of learning we have had! In maths, we consolidated our learning of 3D shapes by making shapes out of marshmallows and spaghetti. In science, we learnt about earthquakes and how scientists use seismographs to measure how big an earthquake is. We even made our own seismograph.
