Term 2 Week 5 - 2023
From the Principal
Dear Parents, Carers and the wider St Francis Catholic School Community,
We extend our warmest greetings to each and every one of you. We hope this newsletter finds you in good health and high spirits. We have some significant updates and events to share with you regarding St Francis Catholic School.
First and foremost, we would like to provide a gentle reminder that there will be no tuckshop service and assembly tomorrow (Friday, 19th May 2023). This temporary closure is in preparation for our fundraiser evening and, coincidentally, aligns with the observance of the National Walk Safely to School Day. We sincerely appreciate your understanding and cooperation in this matter.
We enthusiastically encourage all students and parents to participate in this remarkable community initiative. The rendezvous point is the Flinder Shire Library at 7:50am. Our collective journey towards the school will commence promptly at 8:00am. Joining us on this auspicious occasion will be students from Hughenden State School and officers from the Queensland Police Service - Hughenden Station. We kindly request your punctuality as we embark on this meaningful event promoting a healthy and active lifestyle.
We are delighted to announce that on Monday, 22nd May 2023, we will have the privilege of welcoming Outback Futures to St Francis Catholic School. This organisation is dedicated to enhancing well-being and fostering resilience in remote areas. They will be conducting in-class sessions on resilience for all our students. We trust that this incredible opportunity will empower our students and nurture their ability to face challenges with strength and determination. A flyer regarding an after school session was shared on our Facebook page earlier this week. We encourage you to engage in conversations with your children about the importance of resilience and the forthcoming visit from Outback Futures.
Lastly, we would like to promote our upcoming fundraiser evening. We eagerly look forward to your presence and support as we gather as a united community to champion the progress of our school. The event promises to be a delightful and memorable occasion, filled with camaraderie and shared purpose. If you are interested in attending, tickets can still be acquired by visiting this link. Your attendance and contributions will greatly enhance the success of this significant event.
We extend our sincere wishes for a wonderful weekend, one filled with rest, rejuvenation, and quality time with your loved ones. We express our heartfelt gratitude to all parents and carers for your unwavering support and active involvement in the flourishing St Francis Catholic School community.
God Bless,
Scott Murray
A/Principal

Year 5/6 Happenings
You really must read a Roald Dahl book! They will transport you to another world, one where there are giant peaches, friendly giants, and even delectable treats from a chocolate factory. The students of 5/6 have been exploring the many worlds of Roald Dahl. This week, we chose other books from Roald Dahl which we are beginning to read. We will be using these books to compare them to the story of Charlie and the Chocolate factory.
