Term 3 Week 6: 17 August 2021
Welcome to Week 6...
Good afternoon Parents and Caregivers,
I was away last week at the term 3 Principals’ conference and then the Religious Education Conference. Both were very enlightening and have given me a lot of projects to reflect on in the next few months. It was wonderful to have Sarah Cupitt join the St Francis community for a few days to assist in my absence. A huge thank you to Southern Cross Catholic College for releasing Sarah for those few days.
It was brought to my attention that we have had some issues with students’ behaviour outside of school hours. This information came to me from a couple of sources and seems to centre on students riding to and from school. These reports include and are not limited to, not stopping at stop signs, not being observant of pedestrians and behaving rowdily outside Diggers. Whilst we cannot govern student behaviour outside school hours, we can remind parents and students that whilst wearing their school uniforms they are representing our school. Any further reports of such behaviours will require parents to attend a meeting to discuss such behaviours. Your support in ensuring our students are behaving both safely and appropriately is appreciated.
Our Family Fun Fair is just 8 weeks away and we are still seeking volunteers to help convene stalls. We will also be asking parents to contribute towards dessert at the high tea stall, by way of baked goods. Keep an eye out for the flyer. If you can assist please contact Jodie in the office.
We are actively taking new enrolments, so if you have a preppie or a student wanting to start school next year or know of someone who does, please contact the office. Enrolment interviews will commence early in term 4.

Prep/1/2 happenings...
In P/1/2 we are always practising our fine motor skills. This helps improve our handwriting and strength in our fingers. We are always finding fun and different ways to practise fine motor whether that be with plasticine or using pegs and cotton balls.

Year 3/4 happenings...
We are actively keeping safe from germs in our 3/4 classroom! Our class has hand sanitiser ready to go at the door so that we can regularly clean our hands. We also ensure every student has sanitized or washed their hands before going to any food break. We care about ourselves and our peers by staying healthy and safe from nasty germs.

Year 5/6 happenings...
Maths this week has seen us learn about converting between 12 and 24 hour time and timetables. To practice our skills in converting from 12 to 24 hour time, we had a scavenger hunt. It was a lot of fun!
