Term 1 Week 1: 2023
From the Principal
Dear Parents, Carers and Community Members,
Welcome to the end of Week One, Term One. We have had a busy start to the year this year, having Opening Liturgy, Leaders Induction, Australia Day and Assembly all in the first week.
I’d like to extend a welcome to all of our new students and families here to St Francis Catholic School, Hughenden. It has been great meeting you all over the past week. A special welcome to our Prep students, and those families of Prep students who are new to St Francis. We wish the Preps and new students all the best on their education journey here at St Francis.
On Wednesday, we had our Opening Liturgy and Leaders Induction for 2023. A big thank you must go to all staff of St Francis who came in early that morning to set it up, as well as, Fr Emmanuel for joining us on this morning to bless our year and leaders for 2023.
Congratulations to our leaders of 2023, straight after the induction, they joined a council lead meeting to investigate ways to improve attractions and opportunities for the youth. The leaders demonstrated great insight, knowledge and enthusiasm during this meeting. I look forward to working with them over the year to help them improve the experience for them and their peers here at St Francis Hughenden.
Next week, we will also have a very busy week. Parents Information and Meet & Greet on Monday, 30th January and our first F.A.C.E. Meeting on Thursday, 2nd February. So please keep and eye out for the “What’s on Flyer” for all the important dates coming up next week.
The What’s on Flyer is a new tool we will be implementing to give a quick overview of the week ahead. This flyer will be released of a Sunday leading into the Week ahead, dates for future events can always be found on the School Website Calendar.

Assembly
Today, we had our first Assembly for the Year. This year, Miss Lucy Eriksen and the Year 5 & 6 class will be taking a lead on the Assembly as part of their work towards leading the school.
A big congratulations to Miss Lucy Eriksen and the Year 5 & 6 students on the running of this Assembly today.

Parent Information and Meet & Greet:
Monday, 30th January 2023 Starting at 5:00pm.
On Monday, 30th January 2023 we will have Parent Information evening, this will commence at 5:00pm with a Sausage Sizzle to meet and greet.
Medical Information:
Forms were sent home regarding medical information and action plans on Tuesday afternoon. If you think you should have received this letter and form and you have not, or you have lost them, please find the link to both at the bottom of this article.
We must have those forms returned, before being able to administer any forms of medication. Including but not limited to; Asthma Inhalers and EpiPens.
Please, if you are sending your child to school with any form of medication, whether it be over the counter or prescription, we must have written communication.

Opening Liturgy & Leaders Induction 2023
