From the Principal

Dear Parents/Caregivers,

Whole School Mass

We are having our final Mass for the year this Friday with Fr Emmanuel before he heads back to Charters Towers. We welcome all of our parents and families to join us from 8:45am in St Thomas’ Church.

Rememberance Day

Our Year ⅚ Students will be attending our local Remembrance Day Service at the Cenotaph at 10:45am on Friday. Our Students can wear a small poppy or broach if they have something at home.

School Leaders 2023

Our Year 5 Studnts have started their journey towards leadership in 2023. They have spent this week preparing their school captain speeches and we are inviting all families of our Year 5s to come along and hear them present to the school net Friday at 2pm. The students and staff will then vote following the speeches. Our School Captains will be announced at Rite of Passage & Awards Night in a few weeks time.

COMPASS

As we get to the busy end of the term we do remind parents that COMPASS is our main platform for communication of important school events and notices. We encourage all parents to download the app or have these connected to your emails so you are receiving timely notifications of the happenings in our school.

Rite of Passage & Awards Evening

Please don’t forget to RSVP to the office if you are planning on coming to our Rite of Passage and Awards Evening. We have designated seating this year and whilst we can accommodate for all of our school and community, we need to ensure we have enough seats and tables prepared in advance as well as food. We appreciate your cooperation!

Acting Principal Visit

We are looking forward to welcoming Mr Murray into our school next year as acting Principal whilst I head off on maternity leave. Mr Murray will be visiting in week 8 to work with myself and our Education Consultant Mr Hosking in preparation for 2023. Be sure to say hello if you spt him around our school!

Have a great weekend,

Sharn Greenaway

Year 5/6 Happenings

We explored figurative language and how author's use it in their writing to add fuller descriptions of characters and places. We then had a scavenger hunt to find different examples of similes, metaphors, personification, onomatopoeia as well as noun and verb groups in a range of picture books.
