Term 4 Week 2: 2022
From the Principal
Dear Parents/Caregivers,
COMPASS
We have a very busy term ahead and we ask that all parents are connected to COMPASS in order to receive all of the important information we share throughout the term. As we are moving away from hard copy notes, COMPASS is our main platform for communicating key events and notices. If you would like help in setting this up or having any issues please give Miss Millie a call in the office.
Principals Conferences
I am away from Monday through until Thursday to attend the Principal’s conferences in Townsville. We will have Ms Hannah West coming out to act in my role for the 4 days in my absence. I’m sure our school community will make Hannah feel very welcome!
Catholic Mission Month
This month is Catholic Mission Month, a time where we raise awareness of the work of Catholic Missions. We have multiple activities planned including a free dress day, guess the lolly jar and a movie afternoon! Keep an eye on facebook and COMPASS for further advertising of these events!
Melbourne Cup
You would’ve recently seen our Melbourne Cup luncheon advertised on facebook. Our FACE group is always looking for more helpers so if you can help out by making a salad, giving some time for preparation/set up or helping out on the day with serving and cleaning up please contact Rachel Crozier or myself. Many hands make light work!
Prep Transition Days
We have our Prep Transition days coming up and it’s important to note that we have changed our school times. We have a note up on COMPASS and Kindy families will be receiving further information through the daycare next week. We have added a Kindy excursion to the school in which we are inviting all of the parents to pop in for morning tea, a cuppa and a chat with myself to answer any burning questions they may have and see our school! We are looking forward to seeing all our lovely new preppie faces very soon!
Have a wonderful weekend,
Sharn Greenaway

This week the class in the spotlight is Year 3/4.
Each week a different class will be in the spotlight during assembly and sharing something they have learnt with us.

Prep/1/2 Happenings
We put our science hats on this week! We’ll be participating in a insect experiment over the course of this term. We’ll be investigating which insects live in certain parts of our school. The 5/6 student buddied up with us to guide us through the beginning of this investigation.

Year 3/4 Happenings
In Religion, we are learning about the Holy Trinity. We discussed that the Holy Trinity is how God is made up of 3 parts, the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. In these photos, you can see some of the students working together to create a collaborative learning poster, to show how we discuss how we see each part of the trinity in our learning or in the Bible.

Year 5/6 Happenings
How many different types of angles can you name? Well this week in 5/6 we have been exploring the different types of angles and how we can measure them using a protractor. The year 6 students have also been working on solving angles without using a protractor.
