Term 3 Week 7: 2022
From the Principal
Dear Parents/Caregivers,
Golf Day
We had a fantastic afternoon on Saturday for our heroes and villains golf day! A huge thank you to our sponsors for your generous donations, to our parents that provided a dish and to our staff for all your assistance in washing up and dishing out on the night. We also appreciate all the efforts from the golf club to have the greens and fairways ready for our golf day, we know a lot of work goes into the maintenance of the course. Lastly- thanks to past parent AJ for cooking the BBQ, we appreciate it! Our school successfully raised $960.
Parent Teacher Interviews
We will be holding Parent Teacher Interviews again this term, like Term 1 these are not compulsory and will only be required if the parent or teacher requests one. We will be sending home more information about the interviews in the coming weeks.
Pupil Free Day
Just a reminder we have a pupil free day coming up on Friday 2nd September. Our staff will be working here in Hughenden with the St Patrick’s Winton staff on a variety of topics including the latest version of the Australian Curriculum, Moderation and co-planning for writing alongside our friends from Winton. We thank the Winton staff for making the effort to travel over and we look forward to continuing our relationship with St Pat’s.
Father’s Day Breakfast
This year to celebrate Father’s Day we welcome all our Dads to join us for breakfast on Thursday 1st September. We will have a liturgy following breaky for anyone wanting to stay. Please join us from 8.30am in our eating area.
Changing of school times
Last week we sent home a survey on google forms regarding the changing of our school times for 2023. As a staff we propose our times be altered starting at 8.30am and finishing at 2.45pm. We thank the families that have already completed the survey but would love to hear from as many families as possible regarding the change. You can find the link here. The breakdown of the day would look like as follows:
8.00am- Supervision of students starts
8.30am- Learning time commences
9.30am- Snack Attack
10.30am- Lunch
11.00am- End of Lunch
1.00pm- Lunch
1.30pm- End of Lunch
2.45pm- End of School Day
The structure of the day looks almost identical to our current times other then the times changing and 2 30 minute lunch breaks. The students still spend the same amount of time in the classrooms
Have a great weekend,
Sharn Greenaway

A message to our Dads: Celebrating Father’s Day
In today’s world, the role of a father has dramatically changed, with many dads being celebrated for being sensitive caring, and more hands-on. Research has shown that the amount of time fathers are now spending teaching, helping, and playing with their children has tripled. This has transformed our understanding of how fathers shape their children’s lives from the start, challenging the conventional and outdated ideas of parenthood and gender.
Dads who involve themselves with physical activity with their children play a key role in influencing them to learn self-control, face challenges, regulate their emotions and take manageable risks. In order to be a great dad, it is important you engage with frequent self-care and look after your own mental health. This allows you to be more responsive to your child’s needs, and engage more readily in play, and learning activities.
The Fathering project was founded in 2013 by Professor Bruce Robinson in Western Australia, with the aim of supporting fathers, and father figures. The Fathering Project is an incredible host of ‘fathering’ tips and resources that aims to improve child development outcomes, by inspiring and equipping fathers and father figures to effectively engage with their kids. This platform helps dads to be the best dads they can be for themselves, their children, and their families. Click the link below to have a gander.
