From the Principal

Dear Parents/Caregivers,

Week 5 means we are halfway through the term and yet again, it is flying by! It has been a quieter week here with our ⅚ students away for the first half of the week on camp. They have all returned with big smiles and wonderful memories to share with everyone.

Early Years Testing

Our Prep, 1 and 2 students have been completing their early years follow up assessments this week. The Early Years Project is a collaborative process involving teachers, parents and students. The project improves teacher capability, student learning and parent engagement.

The Early Years Project uses the following method of  pre-screening, evidenced based feedback to parents, teachers and students, targeted pedagogy, alignment with the Australian Curriculum, parental engagement, post-screening and continued evidence based feedback.  The screening provides valuable information across the areas of numeracy, oral language and literacy.

Meditation

Did you know every Monday morning our students particpate in a quiet meditation in our library? Mediation is one of the most inclusive forms of prayer available to us all. Like adults, children are able to feel comfortable and familiar during the mediation process. Children have a great openness to the presence of God in their lives and we feel mediation provides them the opportunity to experience God’s presence within us. It is also a wonderful way to start our week together.

“Be still and know that I am God”- Psalm 46:10

Prep Transition Days

As Term 4 creeps up on us we are starting to prepare for our prep orientation and transition days. This year we will have a half day Prep Orientation on November 10 and then 2 full Prep Open days on the 17th and 24th of November. We will also be inviting all of our prospective and enrolled Prep parents for 2023 to come along to an information evening on Wednesday the 9th of November. Keep an eye out for more information to come.

Have a great weekend!

Prep/1/2 Happenings

We are always so busy in Maths! This week we are counting by feet! For the Preps this means using feet to make different numbers and for the year 1s and 2s this leads them in Multiplication. We read a fantastic book to go with this learning!

Year 3/4 Happenings

In Religion, we inspired our imagination with a fake Birthday party! I surprised the kids with balloons, streamers and music whilst the kids made party hats. Our little party allowed us to put our selves in the shoes of Jesus's disciples as they had the passover meal. We then discussed how they would have felt when they discovered Jesus's was leaving them and going to Heaven

Year 5/6 Happenings

It has been a busy week for the 5/6s with us venturing to Magnetic Island for Camp. We were joined by other schools from Home Hill, Winton and Collinsville. We had a lot of fun participating in activities such as raft building, beach games, snorkelling, radio rogaine, bush skills, team building, archery and many more. I’m sure that we have all learnt something new this week!
