Term 3 Week 4: 2022
From the Principal
Dear Parents/Caregivers,
This week has been yet another whirlwind week. I am lucky enough to be spending a couple of days with the Year 5 and 6 crew whilst Miss Eriksen attends her Graduate Certificate of Catholic Education course in Townsville.
We also welcome Ms Kristal Bruniera to our P/1/2 class as Miss Brown also attends the same Religious Education course as Miss Eriksen! It has been a delight having Ms B and we thank our friends over at St Anthony’s in Townsville for allowing us to borrow her for just a few days.
Our Year 5 & 6 students are heading off to camp on Sunday to enjoy a few days on Magnetic Island. They will be joined by St Patrick’s Winton, St Coleman’s Home Hill, and St John Bosco’s Collinsville. We are very grateful to Mr Townley who has so kindly offered to be our bus driver for camp and to Miss Margy and Miss Eriksen who will be caring for our Year 5 & 6 students! I’m sure they will all have a great time participating in snorkeling, archery, orienteering, raft building and much more! A big thank you goes to Karen Keys over at St Coleman’s in Home Hill for organising the entire camp for our students- we are very lucky to be participating in such a wonderful camp!
As our Fete is fast approaching we are all hands on deck and planning is in full swing. You will notice a few notes being sent home in the coming weeks about volunteering for the food stall including BBQ and Hot Pots. Many hands make light work and we appreciate any assistance on the night.
Also a reminder our Golf Day is coming up on the 20th of August. If you haven’t already, could you please return your forms stating the type of dish you are able to supply as we need these for catering purposes on the day.
Have a wonderful Weekend- Goodluck to our netballers heading to Charters Towers on Saturday!

Year 3/4 Happenings
In Science, we have been learning about the Earth's Rotation in our Solar System. Each student was given the role as the Sun, the Earth or the Moon, and showed how each of them spun around in the solar system. One lucky student also got to be a Shooting star and modelled the movement of a shooting star in the Galaxy. Safe to say, we had some dizzy students after this one!

Year 5/6 Happenings
We have been exploring the transformation of shapes in Maths over the past week and a half. We have been looking at rotations, reflections, and translations and how they change the position and orientation of a shape but not the size. To apply what we have learnt, we played a game of tetris where the students had to identify how they would apply transformations to the shapes to fit them into their tetris grid. The students loved learning about tertis and applying their problem solving skills of transformations to fit in all of their shapes.
