Term 3 Week 4: 3 August 2021
Welcome to Week 4...
Good afternoon Parents and Caregivers,
Welcome to week 4.
What a wonderful weekend just passed. At the Country Music Festival, two of our students competed. Moira Beniwal in the instrumental section and Yasmine Angus singing. Moira placed 3rd in Newcomers, Junior Local and received the overall Junior Encouragement Awards. Yasmine took out 3rd in the Juvenile Bush Ballad. What an amazing achievement for their first time competing. Yasmine has now decided to continue on her singing journey with the Charters Towers Country Music Festival in September. We wish her all the best.
Heidi Middleton had a great weekend at the Richmond Rodeo, taking home two new buckles for the Barrell racing. Most importantly for Heidi – she raced faster than Mum! In just a few weeks, Blaze, Bryce and Evie are headed to Longreach to compete for Mid-West in Athletics. It is wonderful to see our students excelling in all fields, not just the classroom.
This week our students will commence recorder lessons. This could get a bit noisy at home, I apologise in advance. Miss Eriksen will take the students through basic notes and songs in the hope of performing for you all later this year.
Prep Enrolments are now open. In 2022, we are changing our class structures to accommodate the needs of our current and future students. We are looking to have a Prep/1, 2/3/4 and a 5/6 class. If you have a future Prep student or know of someone who does, please contact the office to receive an enrolment pack and RSVP for our Prep/New Enrolment Information Night.
Don’t forget we have our fete in 10 weeks and are actively seeking volunteers to run stalls in order to make the event a success. Please consider donating some of your time or perhaps business wares for this worthy cause. Please contact the school office if you can assist.

Every day our hens are let out to 'Free Range'. They are fantastic at cleaning up crumbs and insects. Today our red hen was feeling particularly social and enjoyed some pats from our younger students. Ain't Chooks grand!
Everyday...
2021 Bookfair...
Three weeks to go!!! Are you ready for this Year's Bookfair?
Prep/1/2 happenings...
In P/1/2 we use plasticine for a multitude of different reasons. One of those is during maths rotations where we create our sums and answer them using plasticine. It's an engaging way for students to complete addition and subtraction sums and is also great for assisting their fine motor skills.
Year 3/4 happenings...
In HASS, we have been studying different countries of the world. On Friday, we had a very exciting Zoom call with a boy named Zander, who is a student in Malaysia! Zander made a presentation for us, teaching us all about Malaysian foods, festivals, sports, culture and more. Zander was also happy to answer our many questions about his life in another culture. We'd like to thank Zander and the Lynch family for donating their time to speak to us.

Year 5/6 happenings...
We have been learning about the Olympics and Olympic sports this term. We are enjoying writing a daily recount of all of the events which happen each day in the Olympics. Maybe we will have our own Olympian in our midst.
