From the Principal

Dear Parents/Caregivers,

It has been another wonderful week at St Francis. Our Year ⅚ students have been enjoying Mulkadee whilst our Prep to Year 4s have been engaging in many fantastic learning experiences.

Mulkadee

We wish all of our Mulkadee students well as they prepare to take the stage tomorrow night for their big performance. They have had a fantastic week learning from Ms Rachel Cairns in the choir and have given their best efforts all week. I am very proud of how our students have conducted themselves this week and I’m sure they’ll be coming home with plenty of smiles after an action packed week!

Mid-West Athletics

We had 3 students head to the Hughenden State School on Wednesday to compete in the Mid-West trials for Athletics. Congratulations to Beau, Adley and Evie who all showed great sportsmanship and determination in all of their events. We had both Evie and Adley come away with Age Champion for their respective age groups, congratulations all round!

Catholic Education Week

Catholic Education Week is celebrated annually in week 3 of term 3. Catholic Education Week is an opportunity for all 309 Catholic schools in Queensland to celebrate and promote their distinctive mission and ethos. Catholic Education strives to make a difference in the lives of those in our schools and in the wider community by challenging young people to live out the message of Jesus and to reach their full potential as compassionate, contributing, life-giving members of society.

We will be celebrating throughout the week with a liturgy on Friday Morning and of course… Cake! Families are welcome to join us for this special celebration!

Professional Development Opportunities

We have been very fortunate that our staff have had the opportunity for school visits and professional development in the past week. Miss Brown went up to Halifax to visit the P/1/2 class and Miss Allison has spent the last 2 days in Ayr visiting a 3 & 4 class and Townsville participating in a Maths Course. We thank Mrs Carrie Kiernan for travelling out to cover our 3 & 4 class.

Prep/1/2 Happenings

Measure, measure, measure!!!! P/1/2 have moved on from length and are now tackling capacity! We did a fun pouring experiment with cups, different sized containers and water!

Year 3/4 Happenings

We have been practicing fractions in our maths rotations. We practiced recognising fractions as parts of a whole. We used lots of fun worksheets, games and pizza bingo!

Mid West Athletics

Congratulations to Eve, Adley & Beau for your great efforts and sportsmanship whilst representing St Francis at the Mid West Athletics Carnival yesterday. Well done to Eve and Adley who both excelled and took out age champion for their age groups!
