Term 2 Week 9: 2022

From the Principal

Dear Parents/Caregivers,

We have had a number of visitors to our school in the past few weeks. This week we welcomed Tim Birthisel our Advisory Visiting Specialist for Inclusive Education and Mary-Ellen Pattinson my Principals Mentor.

Tim has been visiting to assist me with the completion of our initial NCCD Data. The NCCD is an annual collection of information about Australian school students with disability. The NCCD enables schools, education authorities and governments to better understand the needs of students with impairments and how they can be best supported at school. Students who require support in the classroom on a social/emotional, cognitive, sensory or physical level are included in the data. If your child is to be included you will receive a letter with this information in the coming weeks. I have attached a fact sheet about NCCD for your reference.

Report Cards will be available to parents via COMPASS next week. Our teachers have worked tirelessly to teach, assess and write reports for the children. If there are any concerns after receiving the reports please contact either myself or your child’s teacher to discuss your concerns.

Our athletics carnival is coming up next Thursday. The students have been practicing their events here at school each afternoon this week in preparation for the carnival. All students will be able to participate for points and age champions from Prep through to Year 6. Our prep/1 students will compete in a target throw event instead of High Jump for obvious safety reasons however students aged 7 and up will compete in all events including shotput, long jump, high jump and running races. It is sure to be a fantastic day with our wonderful volunteers cooking up a storm in the canteen.

Reminder

We understand that it is cold but please make sure that your children are wearing their school jumpers and trackpants if this is not possible please ensure they are navy.

Assembly

Charlottes Web

How lucky we were to watch RAVA Productions performance of Charlotte’s Web yesterday! Courtney & Jamie then visited us to do a workshop with our year 2-6 students that incorporated elements of dance, drama and music!

Prep/1/2 Happenings

While the year 2’s were away at their drama workshop Prep and Year 1 got busy! We practiced our numbers. Year 1 filled in the missing number all the way up to 200 and the Preps filled in missing numbers to 20 some even went up to 50!

My New Gallery

Year 3/4 Happenings

Every morning, we sit together to say prayer. We use the Praying Together book to help us practice our prayer. Every morning, we read scripture from the Bible, such as the Holy Gospel, and reflect on the message that the scripture gives us. Students also have the opportunity to share their own prayers. It is a wonderful, calming activity to start our mornings

Year 5/6 Happenings

Our little author's have published their narratives. These narratives will be available to borrow at the beginning of next term in the library. We are also planning to have the Year 5/6 students visit the Kindergarten kids next Wednesday, to read them their stories.

Congratulations Bonita

Our Netball Star Bonita is currently in Townsville at the Netball 10-12 Years State Championships. She is competing in her first day of games today. We wish her all the best over the course of the competition!
