Term 2 Week 8: 2022
From the Principal
Dear Parents/Caregivers,
We are another week closer to the end of Term 2 and hasn’t this term flown by. It has been wonderful being back at school after spending last week in Townsville at a variety of conferences. I was welcomed home to a lovely drop in the temperature and lots of happy faces around the school.
Yesterday we had children compete at the Hughenden State School in some pre-events leading into our Athletics Carnival in the coming weeks. I got up there to watch a few events and was so proud of our children giving it their absolute best effort. They represented their school wonderfully and showed great sportsmanship. The students will continue to pracice their athletic events here at school in preparation for our carnival with the small schools in Week 10!
Yesterday we also had our staff participate in a meeting with Krista O’Connor our Indigneous Advisor. We are in the process of creating a Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) for our school. A Reconciliation Action Plan is a formal statement of commitment to reconciliation. As a school we will complete actions and take steps towards closing the gap to help build relationships and respect, create opportunities in the classroom and continuously develop our cultural awareness.
We head into week 9 next week and our students have been working very diligently on their assessment tasks ready for reporting. Report Cards will be available in week 10 for your viewing.
Have a great weekend,
Sharn Greenaway

Year 3/4 Happenings
For our last weeks of school, we are going to have a focus on writing Book Reviews. We read the story 'Not Norman', which was a cute story about a boy who learned to love his goldfish.

This week in Maths we have been finishing our unit on decimals, fractions and percentages. We practiced what we learnt by using the place value party hats to help us show how the numbers move.
