From the Principal

Dear Parents/Caregivers,

It has been a wonderful week of learning here in Townsville. I have attended the APRE (Religious Education) conference for 3 days and the Principal’s conference which included our annual Child Protection Course. I look forward to returning to school and sharing my learnings with the staff in the weeks to come.

I’d like to take this opportunity to thank Jacqui Loader for travelling to Hughenden to act in the principal's role in my absence. We are very appreciative of Jacqui’s time and the wealth of knowledge she brings to our school!

This week is National Reconciliation Week. This is a time for all Australians to learn about our shared histories, cultures, and achievements, and to explore how each of us can contribute to achieving reconciliation in Australia. We will be holding a liturgy in our Assembly room tomorrow morning from 8.45am. Everyone is welcome to join us for this special celebration.

We will be heading to the State School next week to begin our Athletics Pre-Events. The children aged 10, 11 and 12 years are able to participate in the 800m, 200m and the Discus events. Please check COMPASS for more details.

Sadly this week we farewell Misty from our team. Misty has been a valuable member of staff for the past 12 months and she will be missed by our St Francis Family. We wish Miss Mac all the best with her future endeavours.

Late last week you would’ve received an email in regards to the Principal's position. I am very thrilled to have been offered this position and look forward to continuing to work with the school and wider community in this role! I thank everyone who has sent kind words and appreciate all of the support I have been given over the last 6 months.

I will be away on leave tomorrow and Monday as we celebrate my sister's wedding on Magnetic Island! Such a joyous occasion for us all!

Enjoy your weekend,

Sharn Greenaway

Principal

Prep/1/2 Happenings

The Prep students have been working on their handwriting! We’ve introduced a cool character to help us write our letters in the right lines. We’ve been practising our names and some short 3 letter words. We even wrote a sentence introducing ourselves.

Year 3/4 Happenings

This week is National Reconciliation Week! We learned about the history leading up to this week, and why it is important. We then did some cool activities that relate to this year's theme "Be Brave. Make Change."

Year 5/6 Happenings

We have been electricians this week in Science, learning all about circuits and the transfer of electricity. We enjoyed making all kinds of circuits with lights, buzzers and switches. We had a challenge to see how many lights we could add to a circuit. There are a few budding electricians in our room!
