Term 2 Week 1: 2022
From the Principal...
Dear Parents/Caregivers,
Welcome back for Term 2!
It’s been a busy start to the term and I have been lucky enough to have the ¾ students and the ⅚ students throughout the week whilst Miss Allison and Miss Eriksen have been on leave. It’s always lovely having the opportunity to get back into the classroom.
We have a busy term ahead with events like Under 8’s day, NAPLAN and Athletics Carnival. I’m sure it will fly by again just like Term 1.
Naplan is scheduled for the 10th-20th May and we will be completing most of our tests within the first week. The students continue to work on their writing skills in preparation for NAPLAN using the WIRE (Writing in Religious Education) program and each class has committed to giving the children 10 minutes of writing time each day.
As we begin the term I’d also like to remind parents of our uniform requirements particularly as we approach winter.
- Hair longer than shoulder length needs to be tied back out of children’s faces.
- Jewellery, nail polish or fake nails are not to be worn during school hours. In the interest of safety only studs or small sleepers may be worn in the ears. A chain with a simple cross may be worn around the neck.
- We would prefer hair pieces/bows to be of school colours where possible.
- All jumpers and tracksuits are to be Navy only.
- Skirts, pants or Skorts are to be an appropriate length for your child’s height.
At the end of this week each family will receive their child’s Personalised Learning Plan and a form to request an interview with your child’s teacher if you wish to do so. These are not compulsory and you will only have an interview if yourself or your child’s teacher requests one. The teachers will email the parents if they wish to request a meeting. If you have any concerns regarding this please feel free to contact me.
We are participating in the ANZAC March on Monday morning at 9.30am and our school choir will be singing In Flanders Fields and The Last ANZAC. We would love to see the children participate where possible.
I’m looking forward to a wonderful term with our St Francis Family.

Year 5/6 Happenings...
This week in 5/6 the students have been working on fractions. Todays topic was adding fractions with like and unlike denominators. The students paired up to work with one another and give each other a hand! Our Year 6 students stepped up to assist the year 5s where they needed it. The 5/6s are fraction legends!
