From the Principal...
Hello from balmy Townsville,
As mentioned in my previous newsletter piece I am currently away for the week engaging in Principal’s and Religious Education Conferences. It has been a very insightful week and I will return with a whole new repertoire of skills and direction for our school.
It has been a busy week back at school as we close in on the end of the Term. The year 5 & 6 students were lucky enough to participate in YLead activities at the Hughenden State School on Monday and Wednesday. From all reports the students had a fantastic time and learnt some great leadership skills.
I have been meeting regularly with the school leaders throughout the term to discuss ideas and events for our school. Our first off the bat will be St Patricks Day where the Senior Leaders will be making Green Milkshakes for the students with all profits going towards Caritas. It is our goal to engage our leaders to continue evolving and improving our school throughout the year!
I look forward to getting back to school next week and catching up with everyone!
Enjoy your weekend,
Sharn Greenaway
Acting Principal

Prep/1/2 Happenings..
We’ve been practising our spelling in P/1/2! However we don’t just write out our spelling/sight words, we have fun with plasticine! The students say the word, then make it. This also helps their fine motor skills.

Year 3/4 Happenings...
For English this term, we have a strong focus on Narrative writing. Within narrative writing, we use a lot of speech to make our characters interesting. In this lesson, we practiced using punctuation to correctly write dialogue in our stories. This activity allowed students to work together to put words in their proper order and to place our speech marks properly.

Year 5/6 Happenings...
Hi, we are the 5/6 class and this is Our Place.
In English, we have been looking at the book My Place by Donna Rawlins and Nadia Wheatley. This book depicts the history of a place in Sydney from 1788 to 1988 through the stories of the various kids that lived there. We are using the book as inspiration to write our own pages for My Place. We are focussing on using our descriptive language to make sure our writing is exciting and engages the reader.

Kindness Culture- it starts with you
National Day of Action against Bullying and Violence- 18th March 2022
The national day of action against bullying and violence is Australia’s key bullying prevention initiative. It celebrates 12 years of action, connecting schools and communities to find workable solutions to prevent bullying.
The theme for 2022 is ‘kindness culture’. By building a kindness culture together, we can promote inclusion, respect, and community belonging for all students in schools across Australia. Kindness plays an important role in bullying prevention and the 2022 theme offers an opportunity to learn about kindness and demonstrate kind behavior.
Bullying should be taken seriously, and children need to know they are being heard and that their feelings matter. In week 8 our guidance counsellor will be refreshing our understanding of what bullying is, how to respond and support as well as how to prevent the behaviours
