Term 1 Week 4: 2022
From the Principal...
Dear Parents/Caregivers,
Another week has flown by and we are about to start week 7 of the term! We have had a busy week with Shrove Tuesday, Ash Wednesday and Sporting Trials in the mix.
We thank Father Mobin for leading our Ash Wednesday Liturgy, it was a lovely occasion shared with our Parishoners. The children have been speaking in class about Lent and reflecting on what it means to be a better person or to give something up for the duration of Lent.
We also had a zoom call on Tuesday morning with the Internation Director of Caritas Dan Skehan, he leads the programs team to implement development programs and humanitarian responses overseas, and develops and executes strategy for Australian and country offices. The children learnt about the different Caritas programs and initiatives, where the money goes and asked Dan some excellent questions. Their money boxes for Caritas have been sent home and are not due back until the end of term.
We had 9 Students attend School Sport in Julia Creek on Wednesday. Thank you to Miss Eriksen who drove them up and back, it was a great day all round! Congratulations to Blaze, Bonita, Cade, Logan, and Lexie on their selection in the Midwest teams for Netball, Touch and League.
We held our first FACE meeting on Wednesday afternoon in which we discussed 5/6 school camp, Mulkadee, Fun Run, and Tuckshop. Our Tuckshop is still seeking volunteers and we welcome anyone with anytime on their hands to pop in on a Friday to give Telisa Howie a hand. I will be sending out notes from our meeting in the coming days, so keep an eye on your emails.
I am heading off to Townsville for the Principal’s and APRE conference on Sunday and will be gone for the week. I leave the school in the very capable hands of our wonderful teachers and look forward to returning in week 8.
Have a great week,
Sharn Greenaway
