Term 3 Week 5 2024
From the Principal
We have a busy few weeks ahead at St. Francis. Tomorrow evening from 6 pm, we will be catering for the Touch grand final, and next Friday is our much-anticipated Fete. As the saying goes, many hands make light work. We will be seeking parent volunteers to help run some of our stalls at the Fete and to assist with the BBQ preparations. We appreciate any time that parents can give to support these events.
Our Fete is shaping up to be a wonderful event, thanks to the dedicated staff and parents who have already contributed by chasing dodger prizes, attending FACE Meetings, or offering their assistance. We are also incredibly grateful to our sponsors for their support; we couldn't have done it without them!
It has been lovely having Sr. Rita play a vital role in our school community. She will continue to join us on Fridays during assembly to share a gospel reflection and chat with the students, we encourage parents to join us on Friday mornings for assembly and if you haven't already- meet Sr Rita. Sr. Rita loves being part of our St. Francis community, and we love having her—what a blessing she has been.
Planning for the Year 2/3/4 camp is underway, and we will have information for families soon. We will require parent volunteers to assist in driving the children, as the community bus is booked out. If you can help with travel, please contact the office. The students have also begun practicing for the poetry festival, and we can't wait to see their performances!
Thank you for your ongoing support, and until next week!

Prep/1 Happenings
This week in Prep/1 we have been working with Chance and Data. The students worked in pairs to conduct an experiment to see which number on their dice was rolled the most. They had to collect their data in the form of a table and Tally marks. They really enjoyed this experiment and we gained some different and interesting answers with each group having a different answer of most rolled numbers! Miss Brown, |
Year 2/3/4 Happenings
Did you know that St Francis School is a member of the TCE Writing Project? As a part of the project, we have created useful, interactive writing spaces in each classroom, and 2/3/4’s space has just been updated! Using knowledge of the needs of the students, the space now includes useful tools such as the sound station, vocabulary cards, books, and posters to assist students with their writing.

Year 5/6 Happenings
This week in Religion, our Year 5/6 students explored the scripture of the Baptism of Jesus. We discussed the significance of this event and how it marks an important moment in Jesus' life. To help remember the story, students brought the scripture to life by designing their own comic strips. Through this activity, they expressed their understanding of the moment when Jesus was baptised by John the Baptist and the powerful message it holds for Christians. Be sure to check out the finished comic strips on our noticeboard! |

Specialist Lessons- Miss Eriksen
In 5/6 Dance this term we have been using dance to travel through the different decades of time gone by. This week we took a dive into the world of groove and disco, or in other words, the 1970s. The students immersed themselves in the different dance trends and music of the 1970s discussing how it is different to the different eras which we have looked at so far this term. The students enjoyed dancing to this week’s song of Dancing Queen by ABBA.
