Catholic Education Week

Celebrated annually in week 3 of term 3, Catholic Education Week is a special time for all 312 Catholic schools in Queensland to come together and celebrate their unique mission and ethos. This week is an opportunity for schools to showcase the distinctive values and goals that underpin Catholic education.

Catholic education strives to make a significant difference in the lives of students and the wider community. It challenges young people to live out the message of Jesus, fostering their development into compassionate, contributing, and life-giving members of society. During this week, schools participate in various activities that highlight the importance of faith, learning, and service, emphasizing their commitment to nurturing well-rounded individuals who are prepared to make positive contributions to the world.

Catholic Education Week serves as a reminder of the vital role our schools play in shaping the future, encouraging students to reach their full potential and live meaningful, impactful lives. Let us celebrate the achievements of our students and educators, and continue to support the mission of Catholic education in our communities.

Be sure to join us for our liturgy on Friday at 8:30am in the assembly room!

New TCE Medication Procedures

We would like to inform all parents and carers about the new medication procedures being implemented at our school. These changes are designed to ensure the safety and well-being of all students who require medication during school hours. It is essential that you familiarize yourself with these procedures to ensure smooth and effective administration of medications.

Please see below for the Fact Sheet for Parents and Carers, which provides detailed information on the new procedures. Your cooperation and understanding are greatly appreciated as we strive to provide a safe and supportive environment for all our students.

Satisfaction Survey's

We kindly remind all families to complete the satisfaction surveys provided by the school. Your feedback is invaluable in helping us identify areas of success and opportunities for improvement. By taking a few moments to share your thoughts and experiences, you contribute directly to our efforts to enhance the quality of education and overall school environment.

These surveys were emailed directly by TCE and will close on August 2nd. Together, we can continue to make our school an even better place for our students to learn and grow. Thank you for your participation and support.

Have a wonderful weekend,

Sharn

Prep/1 Happenings

We have had a very busy week with Mrs Bates, whilst Miss Brown has been away. We have been learning lots of new things. In PE with Miss Eriksen, we continued to explore different Olympic sports. This week we practised our skills to play touch football. Can you guess what Olympic sport we looked at?

Year 2/3/4 Happenings

Have you heard about our awesome Pre-Service teacher who has visited 2/3/4 this week? Miss Forward worked really hard with 2/3/4 students in a variety of different lessons, such as reading, poetry, history and science. In these photos, you can see Miss Forward working collaboratively with 2/3/4 students to create some awesome limerick poems.

Year 5/6 Happenings

In Year 5/6 this term we are focusing on the Writing Project, whilst producing quality writing pieces. There are 6 + 1 traits to the program and this week the students explored “Ideas”, we spoke about where they get their ideas from when starting a writing piece and what can help spark their imagination when it comes to writing. During our lesson this week we went outside and gathered our ideas with mother nature. We looked at a particular tree in our school and students had to come up with a story based on where they were around the tree. What do you think they wrote about?

Specialist Lessons- Miss Eriksen

In ⅚ Health this term we have been looking at the different systems in our bodies such as nervous, digestive and muscular. This week we explored the skeletal system and everything it does. Did you know that there are 206 bones in an adult’s body.

Library

In Library this week the P-4 read the story A Good Heart written by Lucy Melo and illustrated by Sandra Severgnini. This Book is a powerful book about an emotional journey for an elephant called Jai Dee. It taught us all about feelings and also gave us information about Asian Elephants and their habitats. Students enjoyed creating an a art piece ad having a discussion relating to this wonderful book.

SFSH Chaplain

National Pyjama Day is an annual Australian event dedicated to raising funds and awareness for children living in foster care. This official day dedicated to wearing your pyjamas to school or work is the 19th July, however events can be hosted any time during July and August.

As part of supporting a wonderful organisation, we will be hosting our National Pyjama Day on Wednesday, July 31st. For a $5.00 donation, students can wear their pyjamas to school and enjoy a delicious lunch of pikelets and milkshakes. In the afternoon, they will relax with a movie and popcorn. Prizes will be up for grabs to each grade for the funniest slippers.

We look forward to a fun filled day rocking our Pjs!
