Term 2 Week 10 2024
From the Principal
We are at week 10 of Term 2 and time has flown by. What a busy and wonderful term we have had! Week 10 has been just as busy with a visit to the daycare, the stamp out bullying performance, HSS Under 8s and a visit from Ian McIntosh-self published children's author. We are very blessed to have such wonderful opportunities for our students.
We held a FACE meeting yesterday to discuss all things Fete and fundraising! There are many exciting things in the pipeline and we are grateful for our families assistance with these upcoming events. Please keep an eye on our facebook page for more information regarding our fete. Our FACE group also raised $4742 through their fundraising efforts at touch and the canteen for Athletics day! A huge thank you to our families that cooked, donated, volunteered or assisted in anyway. Our children are so lucky to have the continued support of our families to be able to experience camps and excursions!
Our Biggest Morning Tea was a wonderful success raising $638.20 for the Cancer Council! Thank you to Miss Howie our Chaplain for her organisation of this event. It was certainly a lovely get together for our community and our students performed beautifully.
NAIDOC Week is over the holidays and our school will be celebrating in Week 1 next term. We are very excited to be joined by Carmel and Fiona Major who will be sharing traditional food with us and Kim McCosker our First Nations advisor who will share her own stories of her culture. We invite all of our families to come along and join in this wonderful celebration. We are looking forward to it!
See you all in Term 3!
Have a safe and happy holidays.

Prep/1 Happenings
Here are some more pictures from Last week's excursion at the Kronosaurus Korner. The students got to dig for and hold real fossils! This week the students drew a picture and completed some writing about their favourite part of the experience. Can you guess what they wrote about?
Miss Brown,
Year 2/3/4 Happenings
Have you heard about the new chickens in the St Francis Chook Pen? We are so lucky to have one chicken for each of the classes to name, and 2/3/4 took this job VERY SERIOUSLY! We went through 3 different votes to finally come to a majority note. 2/3/4 are very proud to name their chicken…. Fluffy!

Year 5/6 Happenings
In 5/6 we have been working hard to become publishers of our own narrative text. We have been practising at the start of the week reading our narrative texts during silent reading time, to our peers ready for Tuesday.
On Tuesday, we had the opportunity to engage in a hands-on experience, reading their narratives written for the Kindy children. The younger students at the Kindy were captivated by the stories, and our budding authors enjoyed seeing their work come to life. This interactive session not only enhanced our writing skills but also fostered a sense of community with our Kindy and school. Well done to all students for their creativity and hard work!

Specialist Lessons- Miss Eriksen
In 5/6 HASS the students explored democracy and Australia’s values. To demonstrate their learning, the students had to design their own country explaining what important things and processes make up their countries. They enjoyed presenting their countries to their classmates and teaching them about the countries history.
