Term 2 Week 7 - 2024
From the Principal
What a wonderful week we have had at St Francis. Whilst a short week thanks to a public holiday for our local show, it's been a busy one with Reconciliation Week, Athletics Carnival and a visit from AgForce!
I was very impressed by all of our students determination and sportsmanship yesterday, the day was a lovely event with students all putting in their best efforts. Of course these things wouldn't happen without the hard work of our staff and volunteers so I'd like to thank you all for pitching in whether that being with cooking, cleaning up, measuring or collecting a discus or two! We are very appreciative for your help.
Our 5/6 students head to camp next week and they are all very excited! Miss Tully has done a wonderful job in organising our SMYLe Schools camp and I know the kids will have a wonderful time! Thank you to our staff Miss Rowe and Miss Eriksen for taking the kids and Parent Volunteer Emily Page for driving the bus for us!
We have our School Validation coming up next term. Validation of the School Renewal Process is a point in time exercise which ensures the system (in this case the Townsville Catholic Education Office) shows that all aspects of Church, system and government requirements are being attended to within the context of school improvement processes. The Principal has the executive role, to ensure School Renewal Strategic Plans are formulated and acted upon through the Annual School Improvement Plan.
As part of this process I am required to present to a panel along with students, staff and parents. Once complete our school will receive a validation report and a certificate of School Renewal Validation from the Director.
Our students have a wide range of art entered into our local show over the weekend so be sure to pop over and check them out!
Have a wonderful weekend,
Mrs Sharn Greenaway,
Principal

Prep/1 Happenings
What a whirlwind of a week it has been! Our Prep/1 class has been buzzing with excitement and energy, balancing classroom learning with the thrill of our athletics carnival. The highlight of the week was undoubtedly watching our young athletes give their all in every event. Their resilience, enthusiasm, and sportsmanship were truly inspiring! Be sure to check out our Facebook page for a gallery of photos capturing these memorable moments. Stay tuned!
Miss Brown,
Year 2/3/4 Happenings
2/3/4 have been busy bees this week, with report cards around the corner, students have been showing their best hard work with a variety of assessments! In this photo, students are independently finishing an assessment of their choice, such as their informative writing for English, or their Hughenden History task for HASS. We are lucky at St Francis that each student has a Chromebook to use to research or type out their assessments for submission.
Miss Allison
Year 5/6 Happenings
Our 5/6 class has had a very busy, but short, week. They have been giving it their all both inside and outside the classroom. They managed to complete their assessments just in time for camp and reporting. Outside the classroom, they also participated enthusiastically in yesterday's l Athletics carnival. Students are all very excited for camp next week at Magnetic Island and I am sure it will be a great time!

Specilaist Lessons- Miss Eriksen
A wonderful effort from our students at Athletics Carnival yesterday. We were lucky enough to have had practised these events during PE throughout the term. The students demonstrated their knowledge of the skills and events throughout the day and we were very impressed by their sportsmanship!
