Term 2 Week 9 - 2024
From the Principal
What a wonderful day we've had here at St Francis! Our Biggest Morning Tea was a great success and a wonderful fundraiser for the Cancer Council. A huge thank you to Miss Howie our Chaplain, for all the organisation and baking she has done for the event! Our children performed beautifully and also enjoyed a treat or two throughout the day.
Our Prep/Year 1 students also enjoyed their excursion to Richmond yesterday with many stories of fossils and dinosaurs told upon their return. What a wonderful experience for them. This excursion provided an authentic learning experience, allowing the children to engage with history and science in a real-world context. The incidental learning that took place was invaluable, as students absorbed knowledge through exploration and play. Thank you to Sam Fryer for driving the bus for us and Miss Brown and Miss Margy for helping make the children's day enjoyable.
Our children have been lucky enough to meet Sr Rita this week and enjoyed learning a little bit about South Sudan. We look forward to having Sr Rita working with us and visiting our school regularly.
As we prepare for Week 10 and the final week of school for the term, everyone is beginning to wind down. We still have plenty of the calendar for the week including a visit from Ian McIntosh who will provide the students with a creative writing workshop, Let's stamp out bullying performance and HSS Under 8s Day!
Have a wonderful weekend,
Mrs Sharn Greenaway,
Principal

Prep/1 Happenings
Yesterday our P/1 students were lucky enough to visit the Kronosaurus Korner in Richmond. They had a wonderful time exploring the dig sights for fossils and learning many new things in the museum tour! The children haven't stopped telling all their wonderful stories of dinosaurs and fossils since we returned.
Miss Brown,
Year 2/3/4 Happenings
In 2/3/4, it is time to learn about….Time! Students have been practising their time to the hour, half hour, quarter hour, even to the minute! They have also explored questions involving time duration. Our chromebooks have been super handy, allowing each student to work with an interactive clock to demonstrate their knowledge accurately.
Miss Allison
Year 5/6 Happenings
Year 5/6 students have returned from camp and are back to working hard in class this week, ensuring all assessments are completed before the school holidays. They have tackled various tasks across subjects, from English to HASS. In English, students have crafted narrative texts tailored for an audience of 3 to 5-year-olds. Next week, they will visit the kindergarten to share their wonderfully written stories with the younger children. This activity offers them a chance to engage in authentic practice and enhance their presentation skills. They are very excited to visit the younger students next week
