Term 2 Week 5 - 2024
From the Principal
Dear Parents, Carers and Community Members,
Week 5 is upon us and we are officially half way through the term. We are ticking some of the bigger events off our list with Under 8s being a great success on Tuesday. We love being able to bring the community together for an action packed morning filled with laughter, smiles and a little bit of magic. Under 8s day is one of my favourite days of the year! Our students had a fantastic time and I'd like to take this opportunity to thank everyone for coming along and enjoying the festivities, but we also need to thank Miss Margy, and Miss Brown for organising this wonderful event and to our staff for all their hard work in assisting with the preparations. We also can't forget our year 5/6 students who showed wonderful leadership and compassion to the little people navigating all othe activities on the day- I was very proud of the way they conducted themselves.
The good times keep rolling with our Tropical themed Barefoot Bowls on Friday! We look forward to seeing everyone there for a great night of socialising and of course... bowling! All proceeds of our fundraising is going towards our classes school camps. Our 5/6 and P/1 students both head on their camp and excursion this term and we can't wait to hear all about their adventures.
Have a great weekend!

Prep/1 Happenings
We have been really focusing on our handwriting over the last few weeks. Prep/1 have been working on a page in their handwriting books every week, it helps with our fine motor, pencil grip and our letter formation. As a class our writing and letter formation has really improved and the students strive to produce their neatest work whenever we work on our books.
Miss Brown,
Year 2/3/4 Happenings
2/3/4 have been focusing on Earth and its rotations. In previous weeks, we have learned about the features of both the Sun and the Earth’s moon. This week, we are focusing on Earth and its features. We researched different assigned websites on our Chromebooks and made some informative posters showing all our learning.
Miss Allison
Year 5/6 Happenings
In 5/6 this week we have been working hard in Science and looking at all of the different forms of energy and electricity. In particular, we have been researching how solar panels work and produce electricity from one form to another. During our science lessons, the students had the opportunity to play with kinetic sand, looking at kinetic energy through a hands-on approach.

Specilaist Lessons- Miss Eriksen
In Prep/1 Health this week, we explored empathy and kindness. We discussed that empathy is understanding how other people are feeling. The students came up with a list of ways that we could show kindness and empathy to others and they made their own promise of what they are going to do. To help the students understand how people might be feeling, we relooked at different emotions. Check out the different emotions that the Prep/1s showed and see if you can guess what they are!
School Captains
Dear Parents,Carers & Community members,
Another busy week here at St Francis has flown by just like a click of a finger!!
On the 14th of May the students from St Francis and Hughenden Kindy joined in on a day filled with fun activities at our Under 8’s day event. There was a wide range of activities happening from sand arts to building snowmans, making cupcakes, sensory and much more fun and exciting sstories! The two winning costume makers were Hanna Price and Mason Coward so congratulations to the winners of the under 8’s best dressed. Hanna went as Cruella off of 101 Dalmations and Mason was one of the Dalmatians.
Kind Regards,
Your Fellow School Captain Leaders Adley Crozier & Bob Harriman
