Term 2 Week 4 - 2024
From the Principal
Dear Parents, Carers and Community Members,
Another busy week here at St Francis and the weeks are starting to fly by!
We are looking forward to Cross Country with the other Schools in our district tomorrow! Our students have been practicing hard and we look forward to cheering them on.
We have had a wide range of visitors this week including our Education Consultant Kath Tartellin, Curriculum Advisor Kate Sargent, First Nations Advisor Kim McCosker, Guidance Councillor Britt McGill, and System Learning and Teaching Advisors Amanda Banister and Rachael Hood will be with us tomorrow. We are very blessed to be receiving such wonderful support from TCEO and both myself and our staff will continue working closely with all of our visitors on all aspects of education.
Our Under 8s Day is coming up next week, we are getting excited about the biggest event on our school calendar! Miss Margy and Miss Brown have worked hard to create fantastic activities and our staff are ready to dress in their best Disney attire! We can't wait for all the magic to begin!

Prep/1 Happenings
Prep/1 love reading! We have been utilising our reading corner as our fast finisher space. We have a range of books in the classroom as well as cushions and plush reading buddies. The students are itching to use this space all the time! We have really promoted a love of reading in the classroom.
Miss Brown,

Year 2/3/4 Happenings
2/3/4 are working hard on their Handwriting! 2/3/4 students use the Writing Time textbook to learn handwriting strategies. Many students are excited to start using their cursive writing in their exercise books and are proud to show their hard work. This practice will help us with making amazing writing pieces to enter into this year’s Hughenden Show Handwriting competition!

Year 5/6 Happenings
We have been very busy in the 5/6 classroom this week. On Wednesday, we were lucky to welcome Mrs Sargent (our curriculum advisor) into our classroom to help us with our learning in Maths. Our focus for Maths at the moment is area and perimeter. To further practise what we have learnt, we measured the area and perimeter of things around the school.

Specilaist Lessons- Miss Eriksen
This term in drama we have been working on developing our improvisational skills. These are important for drama as they help us develop a lot of skills such as the ability to think on our feet, collaborate with each other and strengthen our imagination. The year ⅚ students were given their first line and last line and had to create a small play based on these. The students had a lot of fun and their plays were very creative!
Drama
Library- Miss Margy
In the library, we love doing constructive play. The students have the option to play with Mobilo, Lego and Lego robotics. The students love hands-on construction and building with their friends. They have created a variety of amazing structures during their Library time!
