Term 1 Week 9 - 2024
From the Principal
Dear Parents, Carers and Community Members,
As we approach Holy Week, a time deeply significant in the Christian faith, I want to take a moment to reflect on the importance of this period in our school community. Holy Week, which commemorates the final week of Jesus Christ's life, serves as a poignant reminder of sacrifice, redemption, and the enduring power of faith.
During this sacred time, let us come together as a school family to not only recognise the religious significance of Holy Week but also to embrace its message of love, compassion, and forgiveness. It is an opportunity for us to pause, reflect, and deepen our understanding of the values that unite us as a community.
As we observe Holy Week, may we find moments for prayer, contemplation, and acts of kindness towards one another. Let us strive to embody the spirit of service and selflessness that lies at the heart of this holy season.
We will be having a Holy Week liturgy next Thursday at 8:30am in which our community is invited to. The children will be performing the Stations of the Cross and Father Sylvester will be present with us to preside over the liturgy.
NAPLAN has now concluded for our school and our students have done a wonderful job. I am very proud of their efforts and determination through the testing period. The students celebrated with Pizza and chips for lunch on Monday as a treat for all their hard work!
This year our Annual School Improvement Plan goals will see us renew our School Mission and Values. Next term we will be hosting a Catholic Identity Meeting to collaborate with all stakeholders in our school community on this particular topic. I encourage our parents to get involved in this as we would love your input!
Today we have celebrated Harmony Day with all our students dressing in orange to recognise the significance of fostering diversity within our school! Harmony day is a time to recognise and embrace the rich tapestry of cultures, languages, and traditions that make our school vibrant and unique. Through various activities and events, we come together to promote respect, understanding, and acceptance of all individuals, regardless of their background. Harmony Day serves as a reminder that diversity is our strength, and by fostering harmony and unity, we create a welcoming environment where everyone feels valued and appreciated.
Have a wonderful weekend,

Prep/1 Happenings
Prep/1 love their classroom reading space! Designed for quiet reading, it's become a favourite spot for our students. With comfy cushions, a variety of books, and reading buddies, it's a cosy haven where imaginations soar. Our students have eagerly embraced this space, diving into their favourite stories and discovering new ones.
Miss Brown,
Year 2/3/4 Happenings
2/3/4 is excited to learn all about Holy Week in Religion. We started our learning with Palm Sunday, where students read the Gospel of Mark and heard the story of Jesus entering Jerusalem. The story tells us that Jesus was greeted by people laying palm branches and clothes, treating him like a king. The students were very proud of their craft that they can use to retell the story.
Year 5/6 Happenings
As Term 1 comes to an end, Year 5/6 have been very busy working on assessment to conclude the amazing term we have had! Students have been working hard in all subject areas to show their growing knowledge and understanding.
In science, especially, our focus has been on something rather fascinating: mould growth! Students put on their scientist hats, to explore how mould grows on bread when stored in various locations. During this investigation, students learnt about the good and bad effects of mould and how we can prevent the growth of mould in unwanted areas, such as our households and food. How impressed do our young scientists look about their mouldy bread so far!

In Prep/1 Art this week we explored creating artworks using mosaic. The students used ripped pieces of paper to create their own mosaic sun artwork. They worked so hard on these, look at how amazing they look!
Library
This week in library we read the the book
You are enough written by Margaret O ‘Hair
This book was inspired by Sofia Sanchez who has Down syndrome and lives in the USA
This book is a perfectly written and empowering picture book about inclusion.
Sofias Sanchez's Goal is to inspire others to celebrate all the ways they are different!
Being Different is beautiful.
Just BE YOU!
Because you are Enough.
