Term 1 Week 2 - 2024
From the Principal
Dear Parents, Carers, and Community Members,
What beautiful weather we have received in the last week! We certainly are blessed to be receiving this glorious rain however we do pray for those communities suffering floods and heavy rainfall.
We have our Leaders Induction tomorrow in which our Year 6 students will take their pledge to walk in the light of Jesus and let their actions be guided by our school values. We look forward to celebrating our leaders with a liturgy and of course, cake!
As you would have seen on COMPASS we had to reschedule our Parent information evening and this will be going ahead on Tuesday 6th February (next week). We look forward to welcoming all of our parents to walk through your children's classrooms and meet their teacher. The information sessions aim to provide parents with an insight into the learning and teaching, daily routines and policies of our school.
Wishing you all a wonderful weekend,
Mrs Sharn Greenaway

Student Of The Week
P/1 - Alex Sharma
2/3/4 - Cooper McCormack

Prep/1 Happenings
We have been doing a lot of hands-on Mathematics this week! From tessellations to working with our number puzzles we have been incredibly busy. The students have had so much fun learning all their numbers!
Miss Brown,
Year 2/3/4 Happenings
2/3/4 practised collaborating with their peers after learning about Living Things in Science. Students discussed the characteristics of Living Things, such as being able to breathe or move, and gave examples of how different living things match those characteristics. Students, for example, posed that a Human breathed through their nose and mouth, where a fish used their gills to breathe.
Year 5/6 Happenings
Throughout this week in Year 5/6, our students engaged in a variety of exciting and interesting conversations and experiments. In Science, they explored the fundamental requirements for plant growth and survival. We particularly looked at succulents and cactuses. Students learnt that plants breathe in carbon dioxide while us humans breathe in oxygen! Our focus in Mathematics was centred on the complexities of place value and decimals, providing students with a deeper understanding of numerical concepts. In Health, Miss Eriksen led an engaging investigation into bacteria and the mould growth in relation to washing your hands. Students used bread to test this experiment, testing how washing your hands affects the growth of the mould.

Specialist Lessons- Miss Eriksen
In Health this week we explored the importance of washing our hands. The students in Prep to Year 4 completed an experiment to see how quickly germs can spread between our friends. The students used glitter to see how it moved when we high fived and shook each other's hands.
