Term 1 Week 1 - 2024
From the Principal
Dear Parents, Carers, and Community Members,
Welcome back to 2024! We've had a wonderful start to the week and all the children have settled into their classroom routines well. A big welcome to all of our new prep students: Charlie, Hanna, Jack, Hamish, Declan, Jahkeim, & Bo-Deen. We also welcome Miss Georgia Rowe as our Year 5/6 teacher this year.
I'm extremely happy to be back in the Principal role this year. The birth of my son Noah in February 2023 saw me have 12 months Maternity leave and spend some much needed time with my family. There are plenty of exciting things happening at St Francis in 2024 and I am looking forward to working with the staff, parents and students this year.
This newsletter also contains information regarding our policies and procedures and I would encourage parents to look over these in the coming days as we all begin 2024 together!
Next week is a busy one with our Parent Information evening and Leaders Induction. We would love to see our parents joining us for both occasions. Our information Evening will provide families with important information about routines, teaching and learning, school procedures and give everyone an opportunity to visit the child's classroom.
I look forward to a wonderful year with our St Francis Family!
God Bless,
Mrs Sharn Greenaway

Prep/1 Happenings
We have had a fabulous first week in Prep/1, our new Preps have worked incredibly hard alongside our Year 1 students completing a range of different activities and subjects. This is just a small snippet what has been happening in the classroom. Each afternoon we would complete some fine motor tasks to help with our writing skills! These tasks included using plasticine, threading with beads, puzzle tasks and using our moblo. What a great start to the year!
Miss Brown,
Year 2/3/4 Happenings
What a busy week we have had in 2/3/4! We have started this year strong learning about place value. Students have practiced a variety of different numbers on our number board, which challenges students to represent the number in a variety of ways. We have also started our prayer mat for our classroom. Students painted their own candles and reflected on the question "What does God mean to you?" 2/3/4 gave some beautiful answers and are very proud of their prayer mat.
Year 5/6 Happenings
In Year 5/6 this week, our students have been engaged in a range of enriching activities. In Religious Education, we delved into the life of St. Francis, exploring his teachings and compassionate approach to the world. In mathematics, our focus has been on friendly numbers, with students mastering the skills of identifying and working with these numbers in various problem solving scenarios. Within our English lessons, we have been on a creative journey, as students experimented with different writing styles and techniques, showcasing their growing proficiency in expressing ideas through words. It's been a delight to witness how well everyone is settling into the school year with their new teacher Miss Rowe, displaying enthusiasm, curiosity, persistence and a collaborative spirit.
