Term 4 Week 7 - 2023
From the Principal
Dear Parents, Carers, and Community Members,
I hope this newsletter finds you well. As we approach the end of the year, there are several important updates and events that I would like to bring to your attention.
Swimming Carnival Our annual swimming carnival will take place tomorrow. This event is always a highlight of the school year, and we encourage all students to participate and show their school spirit. If you haven't already checked the email updates regarding the carnival, please do so for important information regarding schedules and requirements.
I would like to inform you that I will be away from Monday to Wednesday next week. During my absence, Mr. Mike Colahan will be serving as the Acting Principal. Mr. Colahan has been an integral part of our school community and I have full confidence in his ability to ensure the smooth operation of the school during my absence.
Rite of Passage Your family should have received an invitation for our End of year Mass, Rite of Passage and Awards Ceremony. held on the 29th of November 2023, at 9:00am. This is a milestone occasion for our students, and we kindly request that you advise the school if your family will be in attendance. It's a beautiful way to conclude our academic year and to bless our students as they step into the next phase of their journey.
As you may be aware, we are currently experiencing a heat wave in our area. The safety and well-being of our students are of paramount importance to us, and we are taking all necessary precautions to ensure their comfort and safety. Please ensure that your child is adequately hydrated and dressed appropriately for the hot weather. Our staff is closely monitoring the weather conditions and making adjustments as needed.
Lastly, I would like to take a moment to acknowledge and celebrate our Year 6 students as they approach their final weeks at St. Francis School. This week, we held a special dinner to recognise their achievements and celebrate their transition to the next chapter of their educational journey. We wish them all the best in their future endeavors and know that they will continue to make us proud.
Thank you for your ongoing support and cooperation in making St. Francis School a safe and nurturing environment for our students. Please feel free to reach out to the school office if you have any further questions or concerns.
God Bless,
Mr. Scott Murray

Prep/1 Happenings
We were so lucky this week to have some fantastic visitors in the P/1 classroom. We had our very first transition day this week! It was such fun and we are looking forward to our next one.
Miss Brown,
Year 2/3/4 Happenings
In English, 2/3/4 have been looking at writing News Articles. We have learnt about the structure of a news article, such as the headline, byline and lead paragraph. Students co-wrote this awesome news article, about our recent book fair.
Year 5/6 Happenings
In Science this week we completed an investigation about the viscosity of different liquids. The students tested how fast or slow different liquids flowed. We looked at glucose syrup, soy sauce, oil, water, vinegar, maple syrup and honey. We then used this information to create graphs to show what we learnt.

Dear Parent/Carers and Friends
As we near the end of the school year, it's a significant time for our students, some of whom are transitioning to high school and others who are changing year levels. Change is a constant in life, and I encourage our students to embrace it. High school brings new opportunities for self-discovery, resilience-building, and community connections. I urge them to approach challenges as stepping stones to growth, to forge meaningful connections with peers and teachers, and to reflect on the valuable lessons learned so far. Embracing change with open hearts and a spirit of adventure will welcome success and fulfilment in the exciting chapters ahead.
Blessings,
Miss Howie
School Chaplain
