Welcome to Week 9.

Dear Parents

Welcome to week 2.

On Sunday afternoon our 5/6 students set off for Townsville to participate in the Mulkadee Arts festival. Each year Townsville Catholic Education host a performance of singing, dancing, drama, instrumental and choir students. This year over 1000 students will bring a specially written script of the Wizard of Oz to life. The performance on Friday night at the Townsville Entertainment centre was sold out several weeks ago. I encourage you to watch the daily vignettes from the workshop to see just how much our students are gaining from the experience.

Yesterday afternoon a group of St Francis Students joined with Cameron Downs and Hughenden State School to perform in an athletics team’s challenge. The students got into teams and enjoyed a host of activities all aimed at improving their athletic performance. It was lots of fun and a great opportunity for the students to get together and socialise while learning. Thank you again to Kate Colahan for running the clinic.

This morning the P/4 students walked to Diggers Entertainment Centre to enjoy a performance of Wilbur the optical Whale hosted by Flinders Shire Council.  'Wilbur the Optical Whale' by Karen Lee Roberts, is a fully immersive, interactive and accessible performance set in an exquisitely crafted underwater world, with themes of bullying and acceptance. The students enjoyed the performance and arrived back at school buzzing with details of the story.

Don’t forget we have a FACE group meeting tonight from 5:30. After discussing general business, we will focus on plans for the fete, locking in what we need to start preparing for. Hope to see you there.

Year 5/6 happenings....

With day one of Mulkadee under our belts, we are having a great time and experiencing living away from home and our parents. There is so much to learn and so many people to meet. We hope you aren’t missing us too much.
